Jeongyeon, a member of TWICE, is entering a new stage in her career: she will make her film debut in New Recruit The Movie: Ghosts Live in the Military Hospital, a movie that will bring the popular Korean series to the big screen.
The movie was officially announced on October 1 and is scheduled to hit theaters this winter, although an exact release date has not yet been confirmed. The story will move the action from the series’ usual military setting to an army hospital, where a group of recruits hopes to enjoy a quiet break. However, rumors surrounding the location will soon turn their stay into something much stranger and more frightening.
Jeongyeon will play a military nurse
One of the biggest attractions of the project is Jeongyeon’s participation. The singer will play Yoo Jeong-yeon, a military nursing officer, marking her first movie role since TWICE’s debut.
The film will combine the comedy that fans know from New Recruit with elements of horror, offering a very different experience for the TWICE member. Actor Ryu Kyung-soo will also join the cast, playing a mysterious soldier admitted to the hospital.
From TWICE to the big screen
Jeongyeon’s film debut comes at an important moment in her career. In August, she joined VARO Entertainment, the agency that also represents her sister, actress Gong Seung-yeon, after spending 11 years with JYP Entertainment.
At the same time, Jeongyeon has confirmed that she will continue as a member of TWICE while exploring new individual activities.
With New Recruit, Jeongyeon will have the opportunity to show fans a completely different side of herself. Now, fans will have to wait to see how the TWICE star performs in her first big-screen role.
