GTA 6: These Are All the Confirmed Locations in Leonida

GTA 6 Won’t Just Be About Vice City: Meet the Confirmed Locations of Leonida

Ever since Rockstar Games officially unveiled Grand Theft Auto VI, one of the biggest questions among fans has been what its open world would actually look like.

We already knew that the game would take us back to Vice City, the fictional city inspired by Miami that first appeared in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. But now we know much more.

GTA 6 will take place in the fictional state of Leonida, largely inspired by Florida. Rockstar has officially introduced six major destinations: Vice City, Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia, and Mount Kalaga National Park.

And the interesting part is that each one has a completely different personality. There are beaches, urban neighborhoods, swamps, islands, industrial areas, former tourist destinations and huge natural spaces.

In other words, GTA 6 looks set to make leaving Vice City just as interesting as exploring the city itself.

1. Vice City: The Heart of GTA 6

The main star is, of course, Vice City.

The city returns in a modern version that is considerably larger and more detailed than the one we saw in 2002. Rockstar presents it as the urban center of Leonida: a place filled with beaches, nightlife, businesses, ports, traffic and neighborhoods with their own distinct identities.

Among the locations and areas shown so far are Ocean Beach, Little Cuba, Tisha-Wocka, Stockyard, and the Port of Vice City.

The names and environments revealed by Rockstar make it clear that the developers aren’t creating a generic fictional city. Instead, they are building their own version of Miami, with references to different parts of the real city.

Ocean Beach, for example, strongly resembles the South Beach area and its famous Art Deco architecture. Little Cuba, meanwhile, represents Miami’s Cuban influence, with streets full of businesses and local culture.

But Vice City won’t be all tourism and beaches. The footage released so far also shows highways, residential neighborhoods, buildings, nightclubs, gyms, commercial areas and many different urban environments.

The scale is also impressive. According to statements from Rockstar North reported during previews of the game, Vice City itself is roughly twice the size of Los Santos, while the complete world of Leonida is around twice the size of the map in GTA V.

That said, Rockstar has not published an official figure in square kilometers, so the exact numbers appearing on some fan-made maps should still be considered estimates.

2. Leonida Keys: Islands, Beaches and Life on the Water

To the south we find Leonida Keys, the fictional equivalent of Florida’s famous Florida Keys.

The atmosphere changes completely here. Instead of huge avenues and skyscrapers, we get small coastal communities, boats, waterfront homes and tropical landscapes.

This area is also particularly important to Jason Duval. According to Rockstar’s official information, Jason grew up around criminals and eventually began working for local drug runners in the Keys. He is also connected to Brian Heder, a veteran smuggler who continues to operate from his boatyard.

The Keys also promise plenty for players who enjoy exploring.

The GTA 6 footage released so far includes water-based activities such as scuba diving and boating, along with marine wildlife. Rockstar appears to be investing heavily in creating a living world beyond the roads, something that is also reflected in the game’s wide variety of animals.

Because of that, traveling to the far reaches of Leonida could feel very different from driving through Vice City.

3. Grassrivers: The Land of the Swamps

If Leonida Keys represents tropical Florida, Grassrivers showcases another one of the state’s most recognizable environments: its vast wetlands.

This region is filled with swamps, vegetation, waterways and areas of largely untouched wilderness, clearly inspired by the Everglades in Florida.

Watercraft will be particularly important here. GTA 6 footage has shown airboats, small boats and other vehicles designed to navigate flooded terrain.

And, naturally, there are alligators.

But Rockstar seems to be going far beyond simply creating a swamp filled with animals. Grassrivers appears to be one of those places where you never quite know what you might find around the next corner.

The difference from GTA V is noticeable. Rather than simply being a rural area surrounding a major city, Grassrivers appears to have been designed as an ecosystem with its own identity.

4. Port Gellhorn: The Resort Town That Lost Its Shine

Port Gellhorn may be one of the most intriguing locations in GTA 6.

While Vice City represents Florida’s glamorous side, Port Gellhorn shows what happens when a tourist destination loses its appeal.

The region features old tourist establishments, motels, abandoned businesses and places that seem to have seen better days. Rockstar presents it as a much more run-down environment than Vice City.

The area is also connected to criminal activity and to Raul Bautista, one of the characters officially introduced by Rockstar. Raul is an experienced bank robber looking for new opportunities to pull off major heists.

This gives Port Gellhorn an interesting role within the map: not everything in Leonida will be about luxury, parties and mansions.

There will also be run-down places, small towns and communities where the local economy appears to have been left behind.

5. Ambrosia: Sugar, Industry and Bikers

Another completely different location is Ambrosia.

This region is associated with industry and sugar production. One of its most important landmarks is the enormous Allied Crystal Sugar Refinery, an industrial facility that dominates much of the surrounding landscape.

But Ambrosia also has its own share of danger.

According to the information released about the game, the area is strongly connected to a biker gang that controls much of the local activity. Rockstar also connects this region to Brian Heder, the veteran smuggler from the Keys.

The result is another example of the contrasts that seem to define GTA 6: while Vice City offers clubs, yachts and luxury hotels, Ambrosia is dominated by factories, sugar production, rural roads and communities much further removed from tourism.

6. Mount Kalaga National Park: Leonida’s Wild Side

In the north of Leonida lies one of the most surprising locations: Mount Kalaga National Park.

Here, Rockstar moves even further away from the classic Vice City image. Forests, trails, camping areas and large stretches of wilderness make up this region.

The activities shown so far include hunting, fishing, kayaking and off-road driving, making the park a particularly interesting area for exploration.

There are also isolated communities and characters who live far away from the major cities.

This is important because it suggests that the world of GTA 6 isn’t designed solely around criminal missions. Rockstar appears to want the journey between two locations to be part of the experience itself.

A Map Where Every Region Has Its Own Personality

The six confirmed locations reveal something that could make GTA 6 different from previous entries in the series.

In GTA V, Los Santos and Blaine County allowed players to move from a huge city to deserts, mountains, forests and small communities. GTA 6 appears to take that concept even further by turning Leonida into an entire state, with clearly differentiated regions.

We can go from:

Vice City → skyscrapers, beaches, traffic and nightlife.

Leonida Keys → islands, boats, beaches and coastal communities.

Grassrivers → swamps, waterways and wilderness.

Port Gellhorn → motels, faded tourism and highways.

Ambrosia → factories, sugar production and bikers.

Mount Kalaga → forests, wildlife, mountains and outdoor activities.

And all of it belongs to the same world.

So, How Big Will the GTA 6 Map Actually Be?

This is where it’s worth being careful with the maps circulating online.

For years, fans have created their own reconstructions using leaks, screenshots from trailers and analyses of Florida’s geography. Some of these maps are incredibly detailed, but they are not official Rockstar maps.

Rockstar has confirmed the names of the six major regions, but it has not released a complete official map showing all their borders and roads.

What we do know is that, according to statements from Rockstar North’s Rob Nelson, the world of GTA 6 is approximately twice the size of GTA V’s world, while some reports have described it as several times larger than the playable area of Red Dead Redemption 2. Vice City itself is also reportedly around twice the size of Los Santos.

For that reason, exact square-kilometer figures appearing on fan websites should be treated as estimates rather than official information.

Florida Will Also Be Present in the Weather and Wildlife

Size isn’t the only major change.

Recent information about GTA 6 points toward a much more dynamic world, featuring tropical storms and hurricanes, as well as significantly more wildlife than previous games.

Reports have mentioned around 170 animal species, including birds, fish, mammals and reptiles.

That makes sense for a game set in a fictional version of Florida. Here, weather, water and wildlife can become important parts of the environment rather than simply background decoration.

Imagine driving through Leonida and suddenly seeing a tropical storm roll in, or leaving Vice City behind and entering an area where alligators, birds and other wildlife become part of the landscape.

It could make simply exploring the map feel like an adventure of its own.

Will Disney World Be in GTA 6?

This is another question that has generated plenty of speculation.

For years, fans have theorized about a possible parody of Disney World and other major Florida theme parks. However, information published in late September 2026 indicates that Rockstar has confirmed that the major theme parks associated with that part of Florida will not be included in GTA 6.

This is also a useful reminder that not everything shown on fan-made maps or mentioned in leaks will necessarily make it into the final game.

When it comes to confirmed locations, Rockstar’s official material remains the safest source.

The Return to Vice City Is Only the Beginning

GTA 6 brings back one of the most iconic cities in the franchise, but this time Vice City will only be one part of something much bigger.

Rockstar has already confirmed six major regions of Leonida and shown that each will have its own landscapes, activities, characters and atmosphere. More locations could still be revealed as the company continues its promotional campaign before launch.

For now, one thing seems clear: the GTA 6 map is designed to be much more than a huge city where you simply drive around.

It will be an entire state, stretching from the neon lights of Vice City to the swamps of Grassrivers, the islands of Leonida Keys, the industrial areas of Ambrosia and the wilderness of Mount Kalaga.

And with GTA VI officially scheduled for November 19, 2026, there is still plenty of Leonida left to discover.
