The 70th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 delivered one of the biggest surprises in recent years: Bulgaria claimed its first-ever victory thanks to singer DARA and her explosive song Bangaranga.

The grand final took place in Vienna and brought together 25 countries in a night filled with spectacle, dramatic televoting moments, and political controversy surrounding Israel’s participation.

Although countries like Finland and Australia were considered among the favorites before the show, Bulgaria’s performance ultimately won over both the professional juries and the public vote. The song combined electronic pop, festival energy, and visual elements inspired by Bulgaria’s traditional kukeri culture, creating one of the night’s most memorable stagings.

According to the final results, Bulgaria finished ahead of Israel and Romania to take home the iconic crystal microphone trophy. Beyond the musical achievement, the victory carries special significance for the Balkan nation, marking a triumphant return to Eurovision after years of absence caused by financial difficulties within the country’s public broadcaster.

With this win, Bulgaria will host Eurovision 2027, a historic moment for the country and for its growing pop music scene, which has gained increasing popularity across Eastern Europe in recent years.
